The  ADEA/AAL Compass Program for Academic Advancement is a series of independent modules designed to provide early- to mid-career faculty with guidance and understanding about these areas critical to academic success. Each module is facilitated by experts in dental education and is designed so that participants leave the program with tangible products on which they can continue to build.

On December 5–6, the Educational Research module will be presented to help faculty design, conduct and analyze educational research projects.

The curriculum includes:

  • Creating a research niche,
  • Identifying research questions,
  • Formulating hypotheses,
  • Characteristics of qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods educational research projects,
  • Data and appropriate statistical analysis,
  • Strategies for working through educational research obstacles, and
  • Ethical issues involved in research.

Participants may submit a draft research design after the program and receive a critique with suggestions.

Tuition for the module is $595. Discounts are available for groups of three or more faculty, those who register for multiple modules, and those who have previously attended AAL programs. Each course is held at AAL’s training center in Atlanta, GA.

Visit the ADEA/AAL Compass Program site for more information on this module and upcoming modules. For questions, contact AAL Vice President George Weinstein at  gweinstein@aalgroup.org or 404-350-2098.
