Standout Seven Award at the
2024 ADHA Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA, from July 26-28.
The ADHA Standout Seven Award shines a light on individuals who show exemplary dedication and innovation within their specific dental hygiene role. The award is sponsored by ACCLEAN® by Henry Schein.
The three awardees were Cynthia L. Stull, M.P.H., D.H.Sc., RDH; April Turner, Ed.D., M.S.D.H., RDH; and Jessica Suedbeck, M.S.D.H., B.S.D.H., RDH.

ADHA Standout Seven: Administrator Award Winner

Cynthia L. Stull, M.P.H., D.H.Sc., RDH |
Prof. Stull is Assistant Professor in the Department of Primary Dental Care and Director in Division of Dental Hygiene at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Following her 30 years of clinical practice experience, Prof. Stull joined the University of Minnesota dental hygiene
faculty and has 13 years’ experience teaching dental, dental hygiene and dental therapy in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
She recently launched a six-month Oral Health Educator Certificate Program for oral health providers interested in gaining skills in teaching. Her research focuses on the role of oral health providers in HPV oropharyngeal cancer prevention and the impact of a novel hospital
dental hygiene service line on patient outcomes. Prof. Stull’s professional memberships include Omicron Kappa Upsilon-Beta Beta Chapter, ADHA and the American Dental Education Association.

April Turner, Ed.D., M.S.D.H., RDH |
Dr. Turner is an Associate Professor and National Board Success Manager in the Dental Hygiene Department at West Coast University in Anaheim, CA. She is a registered dental hygienist who worked in clinical practice for 28 years and has been a faculty member at West Coast University for 13 years.
Before becoming the National Board Success Manager, she was a Senior Clinic Coordinator and taught Radiology Science and Interpretation, General Pathology and Medically Compromised Care.
Dr. Turner received her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 1990 from Loma Linda University, a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. In 2015, she earned a Doctor of Education in 2022 from Grand Canyon University. Her thesis and dissertation
research focused on the learning styles of millennial and Generation Z dental hygiene students. This research has been published in the Journal of Dental
Hygiene and the Journal of Dental Education. Dr. Turner has a passion for helping dental hygiene students succeed on the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE) and, in her spare time, enjoys travel and trips to Disneyland.

Seven: Research Award Winner

Jessica Suedbeck, M.S.D.H., B.S.D.H., RDH
|
Prof. Suedbeck is an Assistant Professor and Senior Clinic Coordinator at the Gene W. Hirschfeld School of Dental Hygiene at Old Dominion University. Her research primarily focuses on ergonomics and workplace safety in dental hygiene. She frequently contributes to peer-reviewed
journals and presents research findings at national and international conferences.
Prof. Suedbeck has received extramurally funded grants related to workplace safety. She is a Reviewer at Large for the Journal of Dental Hygiene and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in kinesiology and rehabilitation sciences.
