Starting in the winter 2023, the Seattle Central College Dental Assisting Students will be completing clinical rotations at the University of Washington (UW) Center for Pediatric Dentistry. Their dedication to providing the best quality dental services for children and the highest-level dental education for students aligns well with the goals of the Seattle Central College Dental Assisting Program.

During their clinical rotations, the dental assisting students will support the comprehensive preventive and restorative dental services for pediatric patients. They will also support specialized services for children with special needs, including patients with autism and Down syndrome. Eventually, they may support comprehensive dental services under sedation and general anesthesia.

Later in the program, the dental assisting students may choose to expand their clinical rotations by completing their two-day internship in the spring and four-day externships in the summer at the UW Center for Pediatric Dentistry.

Seattle Central College looks forward to working with Travis Nelson, D.D.S., M.S.D., M.P.H., Associate Professor and Chair of Pediatric Dentistry, and his team of dental assistants, who are well versed in training future dental assistants, dental hygienists, dentists and pediatric specialists.
