Less than two years into its mission of increasing access to dental care around south Dallas, the Texas A&M School of Dentistry Dr. M.C. Cooper Dental Clinic has played a vital role in bringing smiles and comprehensive dental care to those who might otherwise not see a dentist. The Cooper Dental Clinic is named after Dr. Marcellus Clayton Cooper, the first Black dentist in Texas, and it continues to be an important part of its community, like the clinic’s namesake.
Several Dugoni School dental hygiene students and faculty joined members of the San Francisco Dental Hygiene Society at the city hall to celebrate National Dental Hygiene Month. “Since 1897, the color purple is synonymous with dental hygiene, and it has been the official color of dental professionals. It is said to signify compassion, purpose and inspiration,” said Michael Long, B.S.D.H., RDHAP, a part-time faculty member at Dugoni School.
Non-perishable food items packed by the University of Southern Indiana Dental Hygiene students will support older residents of the tri-state area with a monthly 30-pound box of food. Great work!
