For years, low-income senior citizens in the greater Bridgeport, CT, area have received top-quality care from the Fones Dental Hygiene Clinic. A grant from the Delta Dental Foundation of New Jersey, the Fones Clinic will soon be able to provide limited dental care services on-site through a program called Senior Smiles. Beginning in July 2020, Senior Smiles patients will receive free basic dental care at the Fones Dental Hygiene Clinic.
The UAB Student Recreation Center was bustling with volunteers, sponsors and program staff who came together last month for the city’s second TeamSmile event. Held in conjunction with National Children’s Dental Health Month, the event promoted the benefits of good oral health to children and their caregivers.

Free preventive dental care, a lesson in oral health, and a rap battle! That’s what students in the UMB CURE Scholars Program got to experience on Feb. 15 at the University of Maryland SOD. Students, faculty, staff and alumni were there to welcome the middle and high school students to Oral Health Promotion Day, also known as Sealant Saturday.
