5 Questions

ADEA membership is made up of a diverse group of professions that span all facets of dentistry and dental education. But we are more than just our professions.

In the feature 5 Questions With... , we shine a spotlight on various ADEA members, asking them five questions (both professional and personal), giving us all a chance to get to know one another better.

1. What gives you the most satisfaction professionally?

I find a lot of professional satisfaction working with dental professionals who are as excited as I am to be a part of their profession. Even after 25 years in the industry, I get excited when their values align with mine and we can work together to provide the best, most comfortable patient care experience for everyone.

2. What’s a major development in your field that’s flying under the radar?

CRET or Centers for Research Education in Technology. The management and philosophy behind CRET have evolved. It is truly providing a center that runs like a private practice, filled with technology and driven by innovation. The students that are getting to experience these centers are walking away with not only a diverse education, but also a lot of confidence.

3. What makes you excited to go to work each day?

Every day schools around the country are proposing new and exciting projects and I love the challenge those projects present. While they each have a unique vision, they certainly all want to provide the most successful outcomes for their faculty, students and patients. It’s amazing working day in and day out with a group of people who love what they do. At DCI Edge, we are proud to continually commit to helping our customers achieve their vision.

4. What’s the ultimate comfort meal for you?

I’ve got to go with the classic fish and chips and, of course, a Guinness! I’m lucky enough that through traveling, I’ve gotten to try many versions of this dish from all over the world. Every one—from Wisconsin Friday Night Fish Fry to small Irish pubs to California seaside breweries—I like them all!

5. What’s your favorite vacation spot—and why?
That’s a tough one because my family and I love to travel, but I think I have to go with Durango, CO. It is a place I’ve been going to with family and friends for years now. We’ve gotten to enjoy it in all seasons. Whether we are hitting the slopes in the powder or mountain biking during the summer, those mountain top views never get old! It’s our time to be together, laugh and have a bit of friendly board game competition.
