1. What drew you to dental education (or dentistry)?

My love of preventative products was evident at a young age. I was the kid who got excited on Christmas morning when there was a new tube of toothpaste and toothbrush in my stocking. As I grew and learned about the professional avenues in dentistry, I discovered the dental hygiene profession and realized my passion was preventive care. I still love trying new products and look forward to educating people on products that can help achieve optimal oral health.

2. What are you most proud of professionally?

After 14 years as a clinical hygienist, I set out with a five-year plan to achieve my dream job. With two little kids at home, I went back to school and began an online degree completion program to obtain my bachelor’s degree. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene, and two years later began my dream job with Water Pik, Inc.

3. If you could change one thing about dental education (or dentistry) with a snap of your fingers, what would that be?

I would like to see all dental hygienists graduate with a bachelor’s degree.

4. Who is your go-to person when you need advice?

Carol Jahn is my go-to person for professional advice. She has mentored me since 2016 when I joined Water Pik, Inc., in a part-time role as a Professional Educator. I know there are many, many dental hygienists whom Carol has mentored, and she is an unwavering pillar in our profession.

5. What do you look forward to outside of work?

Vacation! I love to travel and see this beautiful world we live in. Give me a beach and ocean air any day!
