5 Questions With

1. Tell us about one of your “big wins” recently.
For the Introduction of Guided Biofilm Therapy into dental hygiene curriculums in the United States, I created and implemented the curriculum design for Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) for dental hygiene programs. During that time, I was full-time faculty and an active Swiss Dental Academy Trainer. In 2021, I was the driving force behind the movement to certify the first dental hygiene program in the United States as a GBT Institution. The real win is to be the catalyst for change in my profession.
2. What’s the best career advice you ever received?
- “Go big!” (Don’t be afraid to take the first step out of your comfort zone.)
- “Done is better than perfect!” (We often fall into the perfection trap and get stuck.)
- “Reset your counter every day, month and year, and you will keep moving forward!”
Whenever I get stuck, I go back to these basics!
3. What makes you excited to go to work each day?
I love making a difference and witnessing the change in people! As clinical hygienists, we focus on patient health. In education, we focus on student success and, in this diverse position as U.S. GBT Education Manager, I am able to combine a lifetime of knowledge, skills and experiences to bring success to clinicians, patients and dentistry every day! I lead an amazing team that is passionate about what it does! It’s a win-win for me!
4. What skill or talent would you most like to develop?
The next step of my journey is to continue coaching professionals. I have found a lot of joy in helping people accomplish their goals and identifying areas in their personal or professional lives that take them to the next level. My ultimate dream is to combine equine therapy with coaching!
5. What’s your philosophy in 10 words or less?
Embrace your journey with kindness, compassion and, mostly, “GRIT.”
