Purpose

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and The Procter & Gamble Company announce the ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarships for Dental Hygiene Students Pursuing Academic Careers. These scholarships support dental hygiene students who are pursuing education beyond an associate degree and who have an interest in academic careers.

Overview

Each year, two dental hygiene students receive the ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarship for Dental Hygiene Students Pursuing Academic Careers.

Each scholarship recipient receives $3,000.

Eligibility Requirements

An applicant must:

  • Be enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program or graduate degree program in dental hygiene at an ADEA Member Institution.
  • Show a commitment to pursuing an academic career in dental hygiene.
  • Be an ADEA Individual Member.

Both part-time and full-time students are eligible.

Application Process Checklist

The application process opens on July 15, 2024.

The following items must be submitted by Sept. 19, 2024, using the ADEA online application process.

  1. Transcripts obtained from the candidate’s school registrar verifying academic standing.
  2. A personal statement from the candidate detailing his or her experiences, influences and decision-making that demonstrates a firm commitment to becoming an allied dental faculty member.
  3. Individual letters of nomination and evaluation from two faculty members that address the candidate’s career goals.
  4. A letter of recommendation from the student’s dean, dental hygiene director or equivalent.

Notification Date and Award Announcement

Scholarship recipients and applicants not receiving awards will be notified by Dec. 6, 2024.

Awards will be announced during the 2025 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition, March 8–11, 2025, in National Harbor, MD.
