The Program Directors' Conference Planning Committee (PDCPC) is specifically charged to create activities and events for the Allied Dental Program Directors' Conference to provide allied program directors with a forum for professional development and mentoring related to administration, leadership and emerging trends in allied dental education. In addition, the Conference should provide program directors opportunities to network and share ideas and concerns with their administrative colleagues.
The PDCPC will work closely with ADEA staff and CADPD Administrative Board to ensure activities are introduced throughout the program that are of importance and relevance to members. The PDCPC will strive to design and generate programs that are consistent with the objectives and strategic directions of the ADEA, and will make recommendations and proposals to the CADPD Administrative Board.
- Provide a forum for the exchange of information on policies and programs that relate to allied dental education and administration.
- Stimulate the production, exchange, and dissemination of ideas and information among allied dental directors.
- Serve as a mechanism to address specific issues in allied dental education and administration.
- Serve as an issue's forum.
- Facilitate communication and networking opportunities among members.
- Develop topic ideas, themes and suggested speakers that are compatible with the ADEA strategic directions and within the budgetary allowances for the Conference.
- Recruit directors to present and/or facilitate sessions as needed for the Conference.
- Serve as the review committee for session proposals submitted for the Conference.
- Work with ADEA staff during the meeting to ensure a smooth operation.
The PDCPC consists of no more than five ADEA members. The committee may have representation from both institutional and non-institutional ADEA member institutions. Every attempt will be made to have representation from the different types of institutions where allied programs are housed as well as from all disciplines represented by the Council. In addition, the CADPD Administrative Board and the Senior Director of Allied Dental Education will serve as ex-officio members to the Committee.
The PDCPC will select a chair to be responsible for presiding over meetings and/or conference calls, and a secretary to record meeting minutes.
Members are appointed by the Chairperson of the CADPD Administrative Board to one term of no more than three years. All appointments are subject to the approval of the full CADPD Administrative Board. Appointments will commence at the conclusion of the ADEA Annual Session.
The PDCPC will meet regularly and at other times as needed, such as at the ADEA Annual Session. Members must be available to meet at the close of the ADEA Allied Dental Program Directors’ Conference. Scheduled meetings typically occur via conference call.
Nominations will be solicited at the ADEA Annual Session during the open Council of Allied Dental Program Directors’ meeting, at the Annual National ADEA Allied Dental Program Directors’ Conference as well as through emails to the CADPD listserv. Nominees must hold an individual membership in ADEA.
The PDCPC will be reviewed every five years by the CADPD Administrative Board. The CADPD Administrative Board decides the continuations, charge and the membership of the PDCPC.
