Liaison International has presented ADEA with a donation of $20,000 in recognition of Karen West, D.M.D., M.P.H., ADEA President and CEO, for her outstanding contribution to the association and dental education. Recognizing the work that Liaison does with ADEA’s centralized application services and the impact of COVID-19 on applicants to dental school, Dr. West decided to apply the funds to support the ADEA AADSAS® (Associated American Dental Schools Application Service) Fee Assistance Program (FAP).
The ADEA AADSAS FAP assists students who demonstrate extreme financial need while applying to dental school through ADEA AADSAS. Applicants who are awarded a fee waiver receive their first three dental school designations at no cost. For the 2020-2021 application cycle, ADEA received 40% more requests for a fee waiver, and the funds provided by Liaison served to increase the number of individuals who received assistance in applying to dental school.
