University of Nevada, Las Vegas, SDM Welcomes Dr. Rosemary P. McPharlin

Rosemary P. McPharlin, D.D.S.

Rosemary P. McPharlin, D.D.S., joined University of Nevada, Las Vegas, School of Dental Medicine (UNLV SDM) in June as Chair for the Department of Clinical Sciences, responsible for 52 instructors and hygienists within the faculty.

Prior to transferring to UNLV SDM, Dr. McPharlin taught as an Associate Professor of Restorative Dentistry at Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry (OHSU SOD), and treated patients in the university’s faculty dental practice.

During her 15 years in academia, she has become recognized for her focus on evidence-based teaching and clinical practice, and for assessing dental students’ progress. Prior to her tenure at OHSU SOD, Dr. McPharlin practiced privately for 13 years in Louisiana and California, and then worked at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL.

Dr. McPharlin earned her bachelor’s at San Francisco State University and her D.D.S. at Louisiana State University Health New Orleans School of Dentistry. She is looking forward to the end of pandemic restrictions so she can resume dragon boat paddling and hot yoga.
